Gunung Krakatau

Krakatau might have come closer than any other volcano in recent history to destroying the planet when it erupted in 1883. Tens of thousands were killed either by the resulting tidal wave or by pyroclastic flows that crossed 40km of ocean to incinerate Sumatra coastal villages. Afterwards all that was left was a smoldering caldera where a cluster of uninhabited island had once been, perhaps peace had come, thought local village. But Krakatau. Alas Purwo National Park

Alas Purwo National Park has 434.2 sq km and occupies the whole of the remote Blambangan Peninsula on the southeastern tip of Java. Facilities are limited and its not easy to reach, but Alas Purwo has fine beaches, good opportunities for wildlife spotting, and savannah, mangrove and lowland monsoon forest. The Bali Barat National Park was founded in 1941 and its main aim was to protect the Bali Starling and the last of the wild banteng, from which most of the Balinese cattle descend.

The park lies in the most western part of Bali and today it comprises a total area of 19,000 ha. The original park used to extend much further to the east than it does today and comprised about 77,000 ha.

Halimun means fog/mist. Gunung Halimun National Park  keeps many mysteries of biological diversity. In addition to the leopard, a bird of prey named Eagles Java can also be found in this place.

Gunung Halimun National Park (TNGH) is located approximately 100 KM Southwest direction Jakarta. Administratively, the area included in Bogor Regency, Lebak and Sukabumi. This vast national park to reach 40,000 hectares and lies at an altitude between 500 to 2000 meters above sea level.
